It might be the first thing you see walking into a store these days.

"Help Wanted."

The signs are going up almost everywhere, and not just in the Bay Area.

Jung said he never stopped hiring during the COVID-19 pandemic, but other businesses are starting to ramp up hiring after California lifted almost all of its coronavirus-related restrictions on Tuesday.

Derek Jung, the owner of Dutton Hardware in San Leandro, said he saw the signs on almost every business during a recent trip to Virginia City, Nevada.

"There's a lot of help that's needed," Jung said. "People are hiring."

That includes San Francisco’s famous Ferry Building.

Drew Gordon, Executive Vice President of Ferry Building operator Hudson Pacific Properties, told KCBS Radio that merchants at the building have over 100 job openings. "They're still struggling to get employees to come in and serve what is now becoming a growing population of customers at the Ferry Building," Gordon said.

Gordon said the merchants are "100%" focused on creating a safe environment for customers and workers.

Masks are still required at the Ferry Building, both inside and outside of stalls.
