A brush fire burning in Fairfield shut down a portion of southbound Interstate-680 Friday evening.
The fire had burned about 20 acres near Marshview Road as of 7 p.m., according to CAL FIRE officials. No evacuations have been issued.
Fire officials told KCBS Radio they expect the fire fight to last until roughly 8:45 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol put out a traffic alert for both northbound and southbound lanes at Marshview Road.
Southbound lanes are blocked off and being diverted at the exit, but northbound lanes can get through. Drivers going both directions should expect traffic to be extreme.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
