Two 14-year-olds, a 12-year-old and an 11-year-old are suspected in a series of armed robberies and carjackings across San Leandro and Oakland.

San Leandro Police said they arrested the four children on Friday following a carjacking in the 200 block of Begier Ave., the last of four incidents the suspects are thought to have participated in. Officers eventually caught up to the juveniles in Oakland, a news release on Monday said.

Two of the children had been previously arrested for armed incidents at a Chase Bank on Fairmont Dr. and another in the 300 block of Pershing Dr.

In both of those instances, they were released to their guardians.

Police said that in one of the incidents on April 9, the victim told officers he was able to grab the gun and body slam one of the children to the asphalt, disarming him. Later that same day, during an attempted robbery at Chase Bank, the victim said he had just withdrawn money from the ATM when he was approached by three suspects.

When they pointed a gun at him and demanded his money, the victim falsely claimed to be an off-duty police officer and the suspects fled.

Police said the suspects left the scene in a small, white SUV.

"Although we do not encourage individuals to resist an armed encounter, we are thankful that in both cases, the victims acted quickly to prevent them from being injured and having the belongings stolen," said San Leandro Police Lt. Ali Khan.

Alameda County's Juvenile Justice Center has taken up the cases.
