The heat is here.
The Bay Area will experience its highest temperatures of the year beginning Wednesday, with many inland areas expected to reach triple digits a day later. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory starting 11 a.m. Wednesday and ending at 9 p.m. Friday.
Just how hot will the Bay Area get on Thursday?
The National Weather Service projects 90-degree temperatures, at a minimum, in much of the region.
Temperatures in San Jose are expected to reach a high of 95 degrees. Concord and Livermore in the East Bay could hit 105 and 102 degrees, respectively, while Fairfield, Santa Rosa and Napa in the North Bay are projected to have highs of 106, 100 and 98 degrees.
San Francisco’s set for a high of 76 degrees on Thursday, while temperatures in Oakland are projected to climb as high as 86 degrees.
With most of the Bay Area facing moderate heat risk, the National Weather Service advised residents to drink plenty of water, avoid strenuous activity outdoors during the hottest parts of the day, seek air-conditioned buildings and ensure the children, elderly and pets are staying cool.
The agency also cautioned people to be wary of rip currents in the water in coastal areas.
