OAKLAND, Calif. (KCBS RADIO) – The Bay Area is bracing for an unusual spring storm expected to bring strong winds, downpours, lightning and even hail.

The storm hitting the region Tuesday will likely pack a wallop. Gusts up to 70 miles per hour are expected at high elevations in the East Bay.
"We are still looking for gusty winds, we are still looking for periods of heavy rains as well," said Meteorologist Sean Miller with the National Weather Service. "We're going to have to keep an eye out for localized flooding and the potential of, unfortunately, more trees down."
Five people were killed by falling trees in the Bay Area during the last atmospheric river a week ago.
The NWS said there's also a chance for hail and waterspouts — weak tornadoes that could form very quickly off the coast, as well as in the Sacramento Valley.
The storm is forecast to peak late morning and drop off by the afternoon, but there's still a chance of lingering showers and thunderstorms through tomorrow.
In San Francisco, a window of a high-rise shattered Tuesday morning due to strong winds. It is the second time in a week that high-rise glass has broken because of the storms.
