A man and woman were each killed in a shooting at a high-rise residential building in downtown Oakland early Thursday morning.

Officers responded around 12:10 a.m. to reports of a shooting at the 400 block of 17th street, according to a press release. They arrived on the scene to find a male and female adult, both Oakland residents, suffering from “apparent gun shot wound(s),” police said. Both were pronounced on the scene.
The victims’ identifications are being withheld until their next of kin are notified.
An investigation is ongoing. No other information was available. Anyone with information is asked to call the Oakland Police Homicide Section at 510-238-3821.
The shooting marks the 121st and 122nd homicide in Oakland this year.
