At around 7 a.m. Wednesday, the man, identified as 38-year-old transient John Rivera, entered the Mountain View Community Services Agency at 204 Stierlin Rd. He then barricaded himself inside the building and refused to leave, officials reported in a press release.

CSA was evacuated as police spent hours negotiating with the suspect before calling county mental health partners for assistance.
After help from a CSA employee and crisis negotiators, Rivera left the building, but as police tried to detain him he began resisting and attempting to re-enter CSA. As a result, an officer had to deploy a Taser to prevent him from barricading himself back inside the building, officials reported.
At 10:42 a.m., police announced that the situation had been "safely resolved."
"Early on April 12th, an individual broke in and barricaded himself in the CSA building," CSA officials wrote in a statement. "In conjunction with CSA staff, the Mountain View Police Department compassionately de-escalated the incident and safely removed the individual. We are in the process of assessing and repairing damage to our building."
Following an evaluation, Rivera will be booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on charges of vandalism and burglary.
The agency hopes to resume normal services by Thursday.
