Man arrested for murder in Contra Costa County, held on $2M bail

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – A man has been arrested for murder in Contra Costa County after one man was shot and killed and another was found suffering with injuries from a fall.

On Tuesday at around 5:11 p.m., officers from the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting near Mariposa Street between California Street and Dempsey Way in Rodeo, authorities said.

Police arrived on the scene to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound and another person suffering injuries from a fall.

Because of the police activity, a notification was sent to residents in the area warning them to shelter in place.

The victim that was shot was later pronounced dead by paramedics. He was identified as 25-year-old Vinson Bragg of Rodeo. The second person was transported to a local hospital. Their current condition is unknown.

Authorities located the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Joseph Gladney, of Rodeo, hiding in the backyard of a nearby home. He was charged with murder and attempted murder and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, according to police.

Gladney is now being held on a $2 million bail.

This is an ongoing investigation.
