Jairaj Singh Dhillon, 42, was apprehended at Boston Logan International Airport and charged by federal prosecutors with two counts of abusive sexual contact, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts.
The alleged crimes occurred during an overnight JetBlue flight which departed from Los Angeles on May 31. According to authorities, the first victim was seated in the aisle seat next to Dhillon, who reached over and touched her thigh and groin while she was taking care of her infant child who was in a car seat in the window beside her. The woman allegedly called for help and said out loud “this man just groped me.”
The second victim, seated in the aisle seat opposite Dhillon, told authorities that Dhillon reached out with both hands and simultaneously grabbed her buttocks and groin while she was standing in the aisle.
Officials said that the flight crew intervened and moved Dhillon to another part of the plane, where he remained for the duration of the flight. When the flight landed in Boston, federal law enforcement escorted him off the plane and placed him under arrest.
The charge of sexual abusive contact holds a possible prison sentence of up to three years, and fine of up to $250,000.
Dhillon's court hearing is scheduled for Thursday. He told investigators he was a truck driver flying to pick up a trailer tractor in Boston and planned to drive it back to California.
