Months-long manhunt ends with arrest in Vallejo teen's shooting death

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in a months-long suspect search following the July shooting death of a teenage boy in Vallejo.

U.S. Marshals arrested Demark Anthony Bernstine of Richmond on Friday in connection with the murder of a 15-year-old boy on July 14. He was taken into custody outside of an apartment complex in Las Vegas without incident, authorities said in a news release.

At the time of the shooting, Bernstine was on parole after previously being convicted of attempted murder in Contra Costa County.

Officials released Bernstine's photo just a week after the shooting in an effort to locate him. He’ll be extradited back to Solano County for processing.

The 15-year-old victim, who has not yet been identified, was gunned down on at the Marina Vista apartment complex at Maine St. and Sacramento St. He died at the scene.
