'Aggressive' mountain lion seen prowling San Mateo County neighborhood

Police are asking residents of a Belmont neighborhood to exercise caution after an "aggressive" mountain lion was seen roaming the area early Wednesday morning.

The big cat was spotted at the 200 block of Hastings Drive at approximately 2 a.m.

Authorities said the same animal had previously killed another mountain lion in the area, but officials did not specify when that attack occurred.

Game wardens have responded to the sighting.

No other information was available. KCBS Radio has reached out to Belmont police for further details and has not heard back.
