The Bay Area Air Quality Management District said Tuesday that air quality isn't expected to reach unhealthy levels, nor has the agency issued a Spare the Air Alert. But hazy skies and the smell of smoke could linger in the Napa County air through Wednesday.
Air quality remained good in the district’s northern region on Wednesday morning as the Old Fire was 15% contained after burning 570 acres. The fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon on the 2300 block of Old Soda Springs Road, near where the Atlas Fire burned nearly five years ago.
CAL FIRE lifted all evacuation orders on Wednesday morning, with no structures destroyed and no injuries or deaths reported.
The agency said that most of Soda Canyon Road remained closed, which could limit elevated air pollution exposure for local residents. The Air District said isolated pockets were possible near the fire.
Officials said Napa County residents should stay indoors with their windows closed as much as possible if the smell of smoke is present, while also setting indoor air conditioners and car ventilation units to recirculate rather than allowing in any outside air.
