Police are searching for two armed men suspected of robbing a jewelry store inside a Santa Rosa mall earlier this week.
The burglary occurred on Wednesday at a jewelry store in the downtown Santa Rosa Plaza mall.
Officers arrived at the scene after the robbers had already fled. They canvassed the mall for suspects, witnesses and evidence.
An investigation by detectives revealed that the two suspects allegedly entered the mall through the south side of the building at the A St. entrance, ran through a furniture store and directly into the jewelry store.
One suspect, carrying a handgun, forced a customer to lie on the ground and stole their wallet. The other suspect broke the jewelry cases and stole "numerous items." Authorities did not release the dollar value of the theft, but said it was in the thousands.
The suspects were described as black adult males, approximately 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10, with slim builds. The two men were each wearing black cloths with masks that covered most of their faces.
Prior to the heist, officials said a late 90’s to early 2000’s black and grey Lexus ES 300 with a fake license plate was seen driving back and forth on A St., where the suspects entered the premises. Detectives believe it "may" be related to the crime, but want to interview the driver.
