The family of the 16-year-old girl shot in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood last week is appealing for peace as police continue to investigate her tragic death.
James Tofaeono shared memories of his 16-year-old daughter during an emotional at City Hall on Thursday. "My daughter was a very loving girl who embraced anyone who came across with a smile and huge hug," he said.
Tofaeono then addressed those behind his daughter's killing.
"I don't know why and I don't know what you are going through but know this, we wish no harm," he pleaded. "No one is perfect and we want you to know that we forgive you. There are no hidden agendas nor are we pushing for revenge or retaliation."
The girl's 45-year-old aunt was also shot.
She's in stable condition but is expected to survive.
Lt. Mike Philpott with the San Francisco Police Department's Homicide Division said officers have been collecting video from the area, but no arrests have been made yet.
"I feel confident that we will have progress but these things do take time, but we are using every resource because this is such a tragedy," he said.
Philpott hopes this message from the grieving family could help.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 415-553-1145.
