The San Jose Police Department said on Thursday afternoon that evacuations at Unitek College were underway after a possible bomb threat was called in at 2:55 p.m.
At 5:12 p.m., police said the threat was "unfounded" after investigators cleared the building and found no suspicious devices.
Police initially directed residents to avoid the area near the campus, located at 6800 Santa Teresa Blvd. near Vineyard Drive. Officials said the area would reopen "shortly" after the building was cleared.
San Jose police didn't say what other agencies responded to the alleged threat. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office didn't respond to KCBS Radio's questions about its bomb squad's involvement prior to publication on Thursday afternoon.
