Preliminary autopsy results were completed this week for the Berkeley runner whose body was found on Tuesday in a remote area of Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park.

The results did not show any indication of trauma, but did confirm that Philip Kreycik, a 37-year-old father of two, had suffered a medical emergency. Officials believe this medical emergency may have been due to heat, KPIX reported.

There were no debilitating head injuries, no broken bones and no signs of a mountain lion attack said Sergeant Ray Kelly from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.

Based on the location of Kreycik’s body, which was near a tree about 250 yards away from a "game trail" typically used by animals, officials inferred that Kreycik had sat down in the shade and had experienced a medical event, the station said.

Kreycik was originally reported missing by his wife on July 10 when he failed to return home after going for a run.

Toxicology results for the deceased father are still pending.
