
Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters marched at the Port of Oakland Friday morning, trying to prevent the offloading of an Israeli based container ship.
Scores of proetestors, many carrying palestinian flags are, marched in front of all six entrances to birth 30 at the Port of Oakland, where a container ship operated by ZIM, an Israeli based shipping company, tried to off load its cargo.
“It’s really powerful, it’s beautiful.” Mohamed Shehk, with the Arab Resource and Organizing Center out of San Francisco, said. “We’re successful so far.”
He said the protestors’ goal is to boycott all Israeli goods in the wake of the recent military offensive in the Gaza Strip.

“The last time that we did this in 2014, we blocked the Israeli ZIN ship for three consecutive days, making it the longest protest and blockade of an Israeli ship in history and the ship never returned, ” Shehk said.
In a statement, the Port of Oakland said while they support free speech rights, many truck drivers won't get paid today if the protest prevents them from going in and out of the terminal.
