Measurable rain is on the way for much of the Bay Area later this week, but don't expect significant totals.

In fact, we'll remain far from it as the region's historically dry stretch continues.
That's according to Warren Blier, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, who told KCBS Radio we're "looking at a decent rain chance" starting later Wednesday and continuing into Thursday. Totals will land somewhere between a tenth and a fifth of an inch, with higher amounts projected in the hills and upper elevations.
The rain comes at the southern end of an atmospheric river that's expected to drench the Pacific Northwest.
"It really looks like (rain) through the whole Bay Area, starting in the North Bay in the overnight hours on Wednesday and then spreading throughout the Bay Area on Thursday," Blier explained.
The forecast will stay "a little unsettled into the weekend," Blier said, pointing to dry and seasonal patterns next week. "I say that with a little bit of caution because that rain we’re now seeing…if you had talked to me a few days ago that wasn't so apparent," he added.
This week's system is not that dissimilar from a system that dropped rain throughout the Bay Area about a week ago.
