Fred Zalokar has been missing since Saturday after going on a day hike in Yosemite.
Zalokar reportedly chose to traverse an off-trail route from Bunnell Point, going from Happy Isles to the summit of Mount Clark.
He did not return to Yosemite Valley as planned and his current whereabouts are unknown.
Yosemite park officials are asking people to report to them if they’ve seen Zalokar, or if they were hiking off trail between Merced Lake Trail and Illilouette/Merced Pass Trail, north of Red Peak Pass or in the area of Mount Clark or Mount Starr King over the weekend.
Officials said that knowing where others went and were during that time may help focus the search, whether anyone was seen or not.
Zalokar is 61 years old, 6 ft tall, weighs 150 lbs and has gray hair and brown eyes.
The day he went missing he was wearing:
-Yellow shirt
-Khaki shorts
-Calf sleeves
-Brown “Eastern Sierra” ballcap
-Sunglasses (in photo)
-Red Mammut Bullet Pack (old/faded)
-Black LED headlamp.
He also may be carrying a jacket of unknown type/color.
Zalokar was carrying a family band radio and may be using bank 1/channel 1.
