In a news release, police revealed they believe a homemade explosive device was set off inside the vehicle.

Friday Jan. 28, an identical report was made when an explosion occurred in the area of 20th Avenue and 32nd Street. Police found a second vehicle with significant damage consistent with an explosion.

Sacramento Police Department Explosive Ordnance Detail Officers and the Crime Scene Investigations Unit suspected that a homemade explosive was also detonated in the second vehicle.

"The circumstances of both incidents are similar," police said. No injuries were caused by either of the explosions.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sacramento Police Department at 916-808-5471.
