
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Police are searching for a man suspected of fatally shooting a Safeway employee in San Jose.

On Sunday at around 3:35 a.m., San Jose police responded to the 1500 block of Hamilton Avenue after receiving reports that a person had been shot.
When they arrived, they found a man, identified as a Safeway store employee, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene — marking San Jose's 14th homicide of 2022.
According to a police report, the suspect and the victim were in an altercation prior to the shooting, however, the motive and circumstances surrounding the death are under investigation.
It was not immediately clear whether the shooting had occurred inside or outside of the supermarket.
The suspect, who has not been identified, currently remains at large.
