The new San Francisco Giants’ uniforms are causing a stir among fans.
The controversial numbers are mostly white with a big orange "G" displayed on the front and the Golden Gate Bridge emblazoned on the side, seemingly shrouded in fog.
Francis Lafferty, a Giants fan, gave the uniforms a resounding "eh."
"I like them. It’s the Giants, go Giants," he said. "But at the same time the city of San Francisco has a lot more to offer than the fog."
The uniforms were released as part of the MLB’s "City Connect" series with Nike meant to express the "personality and communities of the team's home city," ESPN reported.
In a Twitter statement, the Giants described their new uniforms as, "A bold G rises from the fog, symbolizing our pride and unmatched passion for baseball."
However, the comments on the Twitter feed revealed a much different sentiment with one saying "these are horrible!" and another likening the design to Gatorade.
Chronicle Sports Columnist, Scott Ostler, said some are calling the uniforms an "ugly money grab," as replicas of the jerseys can be found online for $434.99.
Despite the pushback, the San Francisco Giants are happy with their new uniforms, saying, "the collection embodies everything beyond that thick marine layer - the hidden treasure that is San Francisco."
