The minimum wage in San Francisco was raised on Thursday.
The San Francisco Office of Labor Standards Enforcement released a minimum wage ordinance that requires all employers to pay employees at least $16.32 per hour, effective July 1.
The ordinance includes part-time and temporary employees who work two or more hours per week.
If employers do not abide by the mandated minimum wage, employees may file a civil lawsuit against their employers. Any violation may also be investigated by San Francisco.
This recent wage increase follows the annual tradition that started in 2014, when San Francisco voters passed an initiative to increase the local minimum wage each July 1 based on the annual increase in the Consumer Price Index.
Federal minimum wage is $7.25.
