San Francisco has taken another step toward fully reopening.
The city has relaxed some of its regulations around certain activities, effective Thursday.
People no longer have to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to get into a Giants game, as long as they’re in the general seating area, nor do they have to have their temperature taken at most businesses in San Francisco.
Mayor London Breed is elated.
“We keep talking about the light at the end of the tunnel,” she said. “I feel like we are finally in the light, and we are trying to stay in the light. We don’t want to go back to the darkness. It’s really hopeful, I mean, I’m even comfortable taking off my mask in certain areas.”
The city now is a step closer to California’s goal of fully reopening by June 15, and Health Officer Susan Philip said it’s the COVID-19 vaccines that have made this possible.
“San Franciscans have stepped up and gotten vaccinated,” she said. “So, it’s the success of that vaccination effort that has decreased our case rates to the point that we are able to further expand the activities that we allow.”
Patrons also no longer need to be seated to be served at bars and restaurants in the city.
