A Bay Area man was arrested for an alleged homicide on Tuesday after a dead body was found in San Jose.

Ricardo Miranda, 31, was identified as the primary suspect in the death of a homeless person and booked into jail on Sept. 28, San Jose police said.

After receiving reports of a dead body, officers responded to the intersection of Remillard Court and Story Rd. on Sept. 25 where they found a man dead from a gunshot wound. They identified the body as Ricardo Alejandro Pena Navarro, a 54-year-old man who was homeless at the time and living in the area near I-280.

Authorities have not yet revealed a circumstance or motive in the killing. This marks the 28th homicide investigated by the San Jose Police Department in 2021.
