SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – San Jose police have arrested an 83-year-old man as a suspect in a fatal shooting, marking the twentieth homicide in the city this year.

Patrol Officers and Homicide Unit detectives investigated the fatal shooting and identified Bert McElhaney as a suspect and arrested him, police said in a press release. He was booked in the Santa Clara County Main Jail Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to a shooting at a mobile home park near the intersection of Almaden Road and Canoas Garden Avenue on Monday at about 6:39 p.m., the Mercury News reported. Police found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said.

The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office will announce the deceased victim's identity once the family has been notified.

Officers are still investigating the motive and other circumstances of the shooting.
