With excessive heat anticipated throughout the Bay Area this weekend, some are looking for solutions to help people stay cool.

"So we’re going to see triple digits, especially in interior portions of the East Bay valleys and North Bay valleys," said Roger Goss, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. "And especially in those higher elevations in the hills and the mountains, across the region."

It’s particularly concerning in the Bay Area, where many typically haven’t needed air conditioning in their homes in the past.

For most people it shouldn’t be too much of a problem, but for the elderly such extreme heat can be deadly.

Keeping that in mind, Santa Clara County officials are opening cooling centers throughout the county. They’re mostly set up in city libraries, from Morgan Hill to Los Altos.

Conditions will intensify over the weekend

"It still looks like tomorrow will be the peak heating, where we could see some areas approach and exceed 110," said Goss.

The most extreme temperatures are expected to be in Solano and Lake Counties where it could reach 115°.
