Stanford is not immune to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.
There has been a distinct increase in the number of student cases, including those who’ve been fully vaccinated. There were seven new positive cases this week alone, all of which were symptomatic.
All seven were fully vaccinated.
The university is recommending students continue wearing face masks if they’re experiencing cold symptoms, even if they’ve tested negative for COVID-19.
University officials are also recommending people avoid indoor social gatherings and crowded gatherings generally.
Santa Clara County, where Stanford is located, now recommends face coverings in all indoor public settings.
The university’s health services are working closely with each student who tests positive to notify close contacts and encourage them to get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible. The university will provide medical care and isolation space for students who test positive.
