San Francisco police arrest suspect linked to Mission District fatal stabbing

San Francisco police arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old man in San Francisco's Mission District.

Police investigated the incident and were able to identify 28-year-old San Francisco Resident Eugenio Corleto as a suspect. Officers located Corleto in Hayward and arrested him on Feb. 4, police confirmed to KCBS Radio.

The victim has since been identified as Frank Chavez. He was stabbed the morning of Jan. 31 at the corner of Potrero Avenue and Mariposa Street, police said in a release.

The police found Chavez on the ground suffering from his injuries. Medics transported him to the hospital where he died from his stab wound two days later.

Corleto was booked at the San Francisco County Jail on suspicions of homicide. He is currently being held without a bond, police said.
