Police have recovered a missing dog that was allegedly taken from the backseat of a parked car in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood last week, reuniting the animal with its owners on Sunday.

The 10-year-old, multi-colored Yorkshire terrier named Leo was taken from a car parked on North Point St. near Powell St. on Thursday, police said.

A spokesperson told the San Francisco Chronicle investigators retrieved the dog at about 2 p.m. Sunday after getting a tip about its location.

The owners, Jacqueline Zavala Lee and Refugio Zavala, were reportedly in San Francisco celebrating their anniversary and left Leo in their vehicle after "several hours of touring." When they returned to their parked car, the dog and a suitcase were missing and one of the windows was broken.

No arrests have been made.
