Pelosi has been fighting for paid leave after Democrats recently scrapped the addition from President Biden’s massive “Build Back Better” social spending bill, currently being negotiated by Congress.

“We want her to know that we have her back. There are 100 million families who need paid leave now in the United States and we’re rooting for her while she tries to get this back into the bill in Congress,” Orli Cotel told KCBS Radio’s "Bay Current" on Wednesday. She’s the senior advisor for Paid Leave for the United States, a national non-profit which organized the gathering.

Earlier this year, paid leave for federal workers was signed into law by President Biden in a sweeping COVID-19 recovery package, however the rest of Americans remain without it.

The addition has largely been blocked from inclusion by West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin and Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema, both Democrats. The other 48 Democratic Senators all support its inclusion.
