Now that COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted in San Francisco, tourist spots are starting to see more activity.
It seems visitors, wearing face masks, are returning to the waterfront. It’s been almost a year since San Francisco first shutdown non-essential businesses, and that’s when the popular Pier 39 closed, tourism dropped significantly.
Even though it’s a cloudy day, families are making it a point to get outside and enjoy views of the bay.
"(We’re) just kind of taking it one day at a time, also trying to get fresh air when you can," one woman said.

Outdoor dining is allowed if you want to grab a clam chowder bread bowl.
You can also pick up a San Francisco hoodie with indoor retail shops back open.
"I feel it’s really important since a lot of stuff is restricted, you can’t really do as much social distancing," another woman added. "This is just a good way to have that little glimmer of happiness."
A major tourist attraction remains closed along the waterfront: Alcatraz Island.
A spokesperson with the National Park Service told KCBS Radio they’re working on a plan to reopen for outdoor tours with a limited number of guests. Cell house tours wouldn’t be allowed until the city approves indoor museums to resume operations.
