Raul Hernandez is being held without bail in the Santa Clara County Main Jail North following his arrest on Wednesday "for attempted murder and various other charges," the San Jose Police Department said in a press release the following day. Police said they arrested a 14-year-old boy the same day on the same charges, booking him into Juvenile Hall.
Both are facing gang enhancements on their charges after police said the shooting and stabbing were "determined to be" gang-related.
Officers responded to the incident inside Hillview Public Library on Monday at 3:30 p.m., finding a man who had sustained a gunshot and stab wound. He was treated for injuries that weren’t life-threatening at a nearby hospital.
Police said Hernandez and the teen fled the scene before they were identified. Two days later, officers found Herandez at the 14-year-old at a home on the 2100 block of Lyons Drive.
Hernandez will be arraigned in the San Jose Hall of Justice on Friday at 1:35 p.m.
