Tech entrepreneur Nima Momeni was seen at the Hall of Justice wearing a mask and an orange prison jumpsuit. His attorney asked for a one week delay in his arraignment for the murder of Cash App founder Bob Lee.
"Absolutely the plea will be not guilty," said Attorney Paula Canny.
Canny announced that she would also ask that Momeni be released from prison, arguing that her client is not a flight risk. "He has lived here his whole life. He was arrested at his house," she said.
San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said Momeni should remain behind bars. "I fundamentally believe that people who possess greater financial means present more of a flight risk, certainly in a situation where they are facing life in prison," she stated.
Prosecutors alleged that Momeni fatally stabbed Lee on the night of April 4, during an argument over Momeni's sister.
The high profile murder case will be back in court on May 2.
