An estimated 350 vehicles were initially involved in the sideshow after driving into Oakland on I-580, police said.

Participants first "unsuccessfully attempted to take over intersections along Telegraph Avenue" before moving to 20th Street and Broadway, where police said "some in the crowd threw fireworks and bottles" at officers. The group then drove to the intersection of 29th Avenue and International Boulevard.

That's where "officers were able to contain the participants and towed their vehicles," as described in a news release.

In addition to the towed vehicles and arrests, police wrote 17 citations and recovered a firearm.

Authorities released the video below in conjunction with details of the incident.

It wasn't immediately clear if those arrested would face charges. KCBS Radio has reached out to Oakland police for comment but has not yet heard back.
