A large fire broke out at an apartment building in Oakland on Tuesday morning.
It started at around 7:45 a.m. on the roof of a three-story building at 2nd Ave. and International Blvd. near Lake Merritt.
The fire quickly turned into a two alarm fire as flames moved into the third and then second floors of the building, which had been undergoing some construction and renovation work.
Dramatic footage showed large flames pouring out of the windows, sending a thick cloud of black smoke over the immediate area.
Crews were able to get the fire under control and stop it from spreading to nearby buildings by 8:30 a.m.
The construction crew doing work on the second and third floors had been staying on the first floor of the building and all were able to evacuate safely. No injuries have been reported at this time.
