The busted line, first reported by police at 4:48 a.m., has shut down all eastbound traffic along Highway 12 from Mission Blvd. through Middle Rincon Rd. KRON reported that westbound lanes have also been closed as of 7:45 a.m.
Authorities said city crews are on the scene conducting repairs to the pipeline and roadway.
Officials did not release an estimate about when the roadway would reopen. They advise members of the public to use alternate routes and detours, many of which can be viewed here.
