A woman has died after a fire broke out at a homeless encampment in Santa Clara County.

At around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a fire in the 200 block of San Geronimo Way. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found two women in a homeless encampment attempting to extinguish the flames.

After the fire was put out, a 25-year-old woman was found dead, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said in a release on Thursday.

Arson detectives are conducting an investigation, along with the Santa Clara County coroner and medical examiner.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
