Baltimore’s new mayor isn’t in the mood to mess around.
At least, that’s what one heckler learned Tuesday during a COVID-19 media briefing from just-elected Mayor Brandon Scott. As the mayor was describing ongoing coronavirus health orders in the city, the would-be heckler interrupted the presentation.
That didn’t fly with Scott, who shot back: "Shorty, pull your mask up."
Scott continued, only to be interrupted again. "Hold on one second," the mayor said. "Come on, man. Look, people are dying, shorty."
The protester, undeterred, explained in so many words he didn’t believe that applied to him.
"People need to hear this information ‘cause they dying," the mayor insisted.
Scott, who assumed office last month, indicated Tuesday that key COVID-19 figures in Baltimore have dropped in recent weeks. The city has begun distributing doses of the coronavirus vaccine to frontline workers.
Baltimore has reported over 290,000 coronavirus cases and over 6,000 deaths.
