A disturbing 911 call has apparently surfaced from the Wednesday incident that led to the arrest of NFL star and former 49ers player Richard Sherman.
In police audio obtained by TMZ, a woman who identifies herself as Sherman's wife frantically implores a 911 dispatcher to send police officers to subdue her "belligerent" husband, who she said was threatening suicide after consuming bottles of hard alcohol.
"I need officers here now," the caller can be heard saying. "He's trying to leave now. In the house, he was being aggressive. He was wrestling with my uncle. He's threatening to kill himself. He has sent text messages to people saying he's going to hang himself."
Tragically, the caller then asks that police not shoot if they arrive.
"And, he's saying that if the police show up -- please don't shoot is what I'm asking.
"He said if the police show up, he'll try to fight them."
Sherman was later arrested on charges of burglary domestic violence after he allegedly crashed his car into a barrier at a construction zone and later tried to break into his in-law's home in Redmond, Washington.
During an afternoon press conference, a police spokesman said a K9 unit was used to take down the three-time All-Pro, and that he suffered a minor leg injury from the incident.
He was denied bail and apparently still in jail as of Wednesday afternoon.
Ashley Moss, Sherman's wife, later told the Seattle Times that nobody was injured and the incident was out of character for her husband.
Sherman was considered among the top remaining NFL free agents after spending the past three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
