A video from the scene showed the truck down an embankment with the tree laying on top of it, KTVU reported. The cab of the truck appeared to be smashed in.

Authorities have closed the road for approximately eight to ten hours while they clear the area.

The cause of the falling tree is currently unknown, but loose soil from recent rainfall may be to blame. The identity of the victim has not been released.
