2 earthquakes strike Southern California just minutes apart

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Two earthquakes rattled Southern California just three minutes apart on Monday afternoon.

The two seismic events – magnitude 3.5 and 2.6 earthquakes – occurred at 2:35 p.m. and 2:38 p.m. about 14 miles east of Julian, Calif. The census-designated town in San Diego County sits about halfway between San Diego and the Salton Sea.

The first earthquake struck at a depth of 7 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The second earthquake was measured at a depth of a quarter mile.

Both were felt throughout San Diego County.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
