Human remains found in a shallow grave in Nevada have been positively identified as a California man who has been missing since 2020.

Jered Stefansky, 26, of Redding, was reported missing by his family on June 19, 2020. His remains were found on March 16 of 2021 in Pershing County near Rye Patch Reservoir, a rural part of Nevada 107 miles from Reno, SFGate reported.
Stefansky's family reported him missing after he failed to return from a trip to Nevada, authorities said.
The Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office used DNA testing to verify that the remains belonged to Stefansky, officials revealed Thursday, the newspaper said.
The missing person report was investigated by the Carson City and the Lyon County sheriff's offices. No further information on the cause of death or circumstance surrounding Stefansky's death have been revealed.
