President Joe Biden is weighing in on California's overwhelming rejection of a recall effort against Gov. Gavin Newsom.
"This vote is a resounding win for the approach that he and I share to beating the pandemic: strong vaccine requirements, strong steps to reopen schools safely, and strong plans to distribute real medicines – not fake treatments – to help those who get sick," Biden said in a short statement on Wednesday.

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris made separate appearances in recent days in California to help the governor stave off the recall campaign.
"The fact that voters in both traditionally Democratic and traditionally Republican parts of the state rejected the recall shows that Americans are unifying behind taking these steps to get the pandemic behind us," Biden added.

Many see Newsom's big victory as a "no" vote to so-called Trumpism, a philosophy embraced by leading Republican candidate Larry Elder.
Elder was the top vote getter among a multitude of "other" candidates for the office should the governor be recalled. Many speculate Elder's candidacy when Newsom's first term ends in 2023.
