Governor Newsom and his family are facing a rising tide of threats of violence.
The Sacramento Bee says it obtained a voicemail and several emails that contained graphic and abusive language threatening Newsom and his kids, as well as violent sexual threats against his wife.
There was also a threat to burn down one of the wineries Newsom founded with customers inside.
The Governor's Office of Emergency Services says it is taking the threats seriously and they are being investigated by law enforcement.
Brian Levin of Cal State San Bernardino, who is an expert on fringe Right-Wing groups, tells KNX 1070 News a review should be carried out of the Newsom family's safety.
"What needs to be done is some kind of re-assessment of the security measures we have not only for these public officials and their families at work because we are increasingly seeing families and residential picketing but also a re-assessment of when these officials are carrying out business," Levin says.
He says that might mean cutting down on their public events.
