A storm system bringing light snow showers is forecast to hit the Greater Lake Tahoe Area on Sunday into Monday, interrupting a recent string of warm days, the National Weather Service reported.
On Sunday, there is a chance of showers with highs of 48 to 58 degrees, while Monday morning will be partly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers.
"While the entire weekend will not be a washout, if you have travel or outdoor plans, it’s not a bad idea to prepare for wet, windy, and potentially snowy conditions occurring at times," NWS officials advised in a special weather statement.
Along with the Sunday to Monday showers, high winds of up to 50 miles per hour are expected on Saturday and patchy near freezing temperatures are possible Monday and Tuesday.
Rainfall and snowfall amounts are still uncertain. Light snow showers will most likely stay localized to mountain areas.
