Bay Area residents with family members living in Ukraine are on edge as Russia begins what the White House is calling an "invasion."
Angela Volkovich is a manager at Royal Market in San Francisco, which specializes in Russian, Armenian, Middle Eastern and European cuisine. Volkocich moved to the United States from Odesa, Ukraine in the '70s.

She told KCBS Radio that she has been watching the news a lot this week as tensions grow in her home county.
"It's scary, I have family there and you never know what's going to happen," she said.
She has been staying in contact with friends and relatives who still live in Ukraine, through calls and text messages over social media.
"I talk to my cousins to see what they think," she said. "My brother-in-law is from Odesa, he has a sister there he has a nephew."
In her eyes, she believes the two countries are like cousins, which makes the progression of the conflict all the more baffling, she said.
"Same people, a lot of them have mixed blood, Russian and Ukrainian," she explained.
Volkovich added that she'll stay glued to the news as things progress and will continue to hope and pray for peace.
