Dana & Parks: Kids have longer walks to school this year thanks to bus driver shortage

School districts in the Kansas City area are dealing with a severe shortage of bus drivers, which means some students will have to walk farther to get to school than before -- a lot farther.

The shortage has forced some districts to cut or reconfigure their bus routes, leaving some kids who rode the bus last year hoofing it this year.

At least two districts will only bus middle and high school students who live more than 1.5 miles away from their schools. Elementary students also have to live more than a mile away to ride the bus. Everyone else will need to walk, carpool or figure out a drop off plan.
