JEFFERSON CITY, Mo (KMOX) - Former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens has filed to run for office in 2024, according to a document filed with the Missouri Ethics Committee.

It states that on June 9, a committee called "Greitens for Missouri" filed for Greitens to run as a Republican for statewide office in the June 2024 elections.

Greitens, 46, in February, told a St. Louis radio host: “Anything is possible," when asked if he'll run for office again.

The former Navy SEAL and founder of a non-profit benefiting veterans was elected as governor in 2016.

Greitens was indicted on an invasion-of-privacy charge in February 2018. He was accused of taking a compromising photo of a woman in St. Louis without her consent. It happened while he was having an extramarital affair in 2015, before he was elected.

The criminal charges were dropped when Greitens resigned in June 2018.

Greitens faced another felony charge in St. Louis, when accused of providing his political fundraiser with the donor list of his veterans charity.

The Missouri Ethics Commission issued a ruling on a campaign ethics investigation, saying it found “probable cause” that Greitens’ campaign broke the law, but also “found no evidence of any wrongdoing on the part of Eric Greitens, individually.”

Greitens said the ruling “fully exonerated” him.
