JUPITER, Fla. (KMOX) - It hasn't taken long for Nolan Gorman and Matthew Liberatore to realize one of the things that the St. Louis Cardinals do very, very well.
It's the experience, baseball knowledge and advice that gets passed from generation to generation in the organization. The 19- and 20-year-old prospects who are both in the Cardinals big league Spring Training camp for the first time say they've been chatting with guys like Paul Goldschmidt and Adam Wainwright.
"We're all trying to get better, they're passing down information to us that's going to take us to the next level," Gorman says. "And it's more than just the physical side of baseball.
"The clubhouse has great communication and leadership and all that."
But it's also not just the current players and coaches that have made an impact on them. It's also the Hall of Fame help that's abundant in Jupiter.
We asked the two which former player they'd most like face in the batter's box or on the mound. Liberatore, the No. 1 pitching prospect for the Cardinals, says that guy for him would be Ozzie Smith.
"I've gotten the opportunity to meet him and have a couple of conversations with him here and there," Liberatore says. "He just seems like a very intelligent dude so I can tell he's a thinker when he was hitting or at least he had a very cerebral approach to what he was doing."
